Abstract
For this project, I created friendship bracelets which serve as a bookmark and reminder of the eight different components to becoming a successful comprehensive reader. All based upon the Scarborough’s Reading Rope theory, reading comprehension is not possible with a missing part of the rope. Through this project I explain the eight components and then apply this theory through the creation and distribution of my own reading ropes. The purpose of this project is to bring awareness to the key aspects of what makes a good reader and encourage students to incorporate these skills when reading. It also serves as a pilot program for teachers and parents to then recreate in their own classroom or home environment.
