The purpose of the study was to describe the impact of spectator presence, logistics of play, and spectator behavior on collegiate basketball players during game performances. The subjects (N=101) were individuals who played basketball at the collegiate level across three divisions of the NCAA and two divisions of the NAIA. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. A ten-question survey was developed to be completed by each subject. Questions one through nine required the subjects to respond to a 5-point Likert scale. Question ten asked the subjects to rank variables that positively influenced their athletic performance. Data were collected concerning three research questions. Results indicated that spectators do impact the performance of athletes. The presence of spectators apparently impacted the performance of collegiate basketball players during game situations. Over 66% of the subjects agreed that the presence of spectators enhanced their performance. The logistics of play has a bearing on performance of collegiate basketball players, it appeared the performance of athletes is greatly influenced by the home crowd. Forty-three percent supported the idea that playing on the home field increases athletic performance. Finally, the behaviors of the spectators have an impact on the performance of collegiate basketball players during competition. Seventy percent felt a hostile crowd would enhance their performance.
