Abstract
The following paper examines literature as a representation of reality, offering a conception of literature as a unified confluence of the objective universe and author's subject conception, justifying that view with Romantic and mimetic texts and evaluations, and scientific research. The view expressed is compared and contrasted mainly with that of M.H. Abrams as put forward in The Mirror and the Lamp: Romantic Theory and the Critical Tradition.
