Abstract

First, I have to thank Dr. Rai Peterson. This paper most likely would not exist without her guidance and flexibility. In the beginning, my scope for the writing of this paper was extremely narrow, but Dr. Peterson opened my eyes to numerous possibilities. For that, I am extremely grateful. I would also like to thank Dr. Barbara Stedman for always responding to my correspondences and for clarifying issues that confused me on a fairly regular basis. Finally, I would like to thank all of my friends in the LGBTQ community. You all were the original inspiration for this paper, and I hope that you will continue to inspire me in the future.
