Abstract

Greek fraternities have been a part of the college campus experience since the 1700's and as early as 1907 on the Ball State University campus. Through the years, administrators, faculty and students have extolled the value of Greek fraternities on college campuses. Most research has focused on the characteristics of Greek fraternity membership. Greek membership evaluations include campus surveys, individual member interviews and university registration data. This paper takes a different approach to fraternity membership. It uses a statistical model to identify university and economic factors associated with Greek fraternity membership.
