Tackling the barrier of financial cost : a resource for first-generation college students

Abstract

This project was designed to assist first-generation college students with overcoming the financial barriers to higher education. Characteristics of first-generation college students were presented. Financial costs and obstacles to financing higher education were outlined. The four sections of the resource guide served as a substitute to first-generation college students who lack the advantage of parental experience, understanding, and guidance in college application and scholarship acquisition processes.
