Man in the moon

Abstract

I ask that thesis reviewers watch my thesis film before reading this manuscript, as it is supplemental to my thesis film, and is necessary for a stronger understanding of the thesis as a whole. The thesis itself is linked at the end of this manuscript, under "Digital Content." My father, Thomas M Trusock, was an avid amateur astronomer. He was often invited to speak at international star parties and founded Cloudy Nights, a popular online forum for other amateur astronomers. He was very aware of his own mortality, having lost his father himself when I was young, and constantly joked about his impending death. When I was around sixteen, I jokingly asked him to promise to stay alive long enough to see a film I'd work on; he declined this promise. On April 27th, 2019, three days before I turned eighteen, he committed suicide. Man in the Moon is a short-film storyboard cataloging how my father's love of the stars has rubbed off on me.
